Yo, Ted:
I love your comics, but I must take exception to your latest and its call for violence against Jon Stewart. I posted the following to your blog, but I haven’t seen it yet:

How does the advocacy of violence against Stewart and Colbert aid the WGA? Both are WGA members and member of AFTRA - What would you have? 400 jobs lost or the two on the air to keep their crews together? Judging by your “call” to “holy struggle” you would prefer to have a few hundred people out on their asses adding to the misery of the strike. And, where is your vitriol for the AMPTP? THEY walked out of the negotiations after offering a mere $230 for streaming and downloads. Where is your “Jihad” against them?

Oh, yeah your paychecks just happened to be signed by…

AFTRA has a no strike clause. Comedy Central has an AFTRA Contract. both are in an untenable position. but yet, you call them out for being placed in such a position by the AMPTP. whose ass is the sweetest? Viacom, Disney or News Corps.? You are nothing more than a lackey of major media, to be confounded by traffic to take on those who NEED to be taken on - the AMPTP.

Indeed, In all of your scathing illustrations, I have yet to see you go after the Media Corporations, that by their intransigence, are the cause of this work stoppage. Not Stewart or Colbert. nor Jay Leno of Jimmy Kimmel. the AMPTP. You sir, are a base and vile coward. To chickenshit to, unlike Colbert and Stewart, to bite the hand that feeds. Tell me , Ted, what will you feel like should someone decide to emulate the Union goons and beat Mr. Stewart. Will it make you feel good, that your “Holy struggle” against these two has resulted in a good hide tanning? Will you stand up and defend the assailants as being good little jihadists? After all, they will be martyrs to your “holy cause”.

UPDATE: My comment, above has been approved and is posted over at Rall’s Blog “Search and Destroy”. However, he has chosen to not respond to my comments over at the Daily Show News blog. Now, does that make him smart or a coward? I still think a coward in that he, at this moment, as of this update, not responding.

Voter ID law splits high court justices / Rift opens along ideological fault lines as lawyers argue over photo requirement
Supreme Court justices divided along ideological lines during arguments Wednesday over the constitutionality of an Indiana law that requires residents to show government-issued photo IDs before they can vote.

Conservatives on the panel, led by Justice Antonin Scalia, characterized the photo ID requirement as a harmless way to prevent voter fraud. The liberals on the court, including Justices David Souter and Ruth Bader Ginsburg, signaled their concern that the statute would impose a tough burden on poor would-be voters who don’t have driver’s licenses or passports.

The high court’s decision in the case could have repercussions for similar voter ID laws in several states.

Voting Rights activists are all over themselves regarding photo ID for voting. But where is the HUman Cry over REAL-ID? Those without REAL-ID will not have the Right to Vote. Hell, they won’t even have the basic Freedom to Travel. Yet Silence.. Does Silence = $?
Asks this cynic Does “Silence = Disnefranchisement?” 4 months before you have to prove you were born here, pay taxes here, and have a utility bill…

Now, I am no conspiracy theory nut, but this is just odd”

Blackwater dropped riot gas on U.S. troops
The helicopter was hovering over a Baghdad checkpoint into the Green Zone, one typically crowded with cars, Iraqi civilians and U.S. military personnel.

Suddenly, on that May day in 2005, the copter dropped CS gas, a riot-control substance the U.S. military in Iraq can use only under the strictest conditions and with the approval of top military commanders. An armored vehicle on the ground also released the gas, temporarily blinding drivers, passers-by and at least 10 U.S. soldiers operating the checkpoint.

“This was decidedly uncool and very, very dangerous,” Army Capt. Kincy Clark, the senior officer at the scene, wrote later that day. “It’s not a good thing to cause soldiers who are standing guard against car bombs, snipers and suicide bombers to cover their faces, choke, cough and otherwise degrade our awareness.”

They gassed our own troops to “get through traffic” or were they just running an exercise for Nov. 2, 2008? They operate above and beyond the Law, which means, they were given what once was called Carte Blancheand answer to no one but Cheney….

A lot has been said regarding the return of The A Daily Show with John Stewart and the ColberT ReporT and alot of it is quite ugly. First, some basic lessons in the Language of the Strike:

Scab = A SCAB originally referred to the non-union, lower skilled individual who will cross the picket line because a slightly higher wage has been dangled before them. Think the SAG/AFTRA Contract strike and the DELL Dude. yeah, apparently SAG let him in anyway.

Strikebreaker = refers to a union member who crosses a picket line.

I support the WGA in their quest for equity, and yet, I know that both men crossed to save the jobs of nearly 400 non-writing employees. To hear some WGA members, these lost jobs are just part of doing business. Then there is the dilemma of their contracts as members of AFTRA, of which Comedy Central is a signatory. There is a “No Strike” clause in that Basic Cable contract. When the two walked off the set Nov. 5th, they breached their AFTRA contract, while abiding by the Strike rules of the WGA. Neither men are Steve Carrel, where they could call in a “fuck you” and shut everything down. Nor are they Jay Leno, who may or may not be violating WGA rules regarding “Struck Work” by wirting his own material - Jay is also a member of AFTRA.

For reasons known only to the negotiating teams, a request for an Interim Agreement with Comedy Central for the two shows to bring back their writers was rejected. REJECTED. THE WGA BLEW AN OPPORTUNITY TO PRESSURE the AMPTP, by having Comedy Central sign the Interim Agreement - you know DAMN well, that they would not have gone to the WGA unless VIACOM and Sumner Redstone gave them the “alles klarheit” to do so.

Now, back to their dilemma:
WGA? AFTRA? Strike? Work/save 400 jobs…
you tell me.

The anger is justified, but a mob?
All the mob was missing were the pitchforks, torches, a rail and tar and feathers.

This has established that Ron Paul supporters are a dangerous lot. Disagree and you face the wrath of the mob…

Jose Padilla Sues Cal Professor Over Terror Memos
MIAMI (AP) ― Convicted terrorism conspirator Jose Padilla sued a key architect of the Bush administration’s counterterrorism policies and UC Berkeley professor Friday, claiming the official’s legal arguments led to Padilla’s alleged mistreatment and illegal detention at a Navy brig.

The lawsuit claims that John Yoo, a former senior Justice Department official, wrote several legal memos that led President Bush to designate Padilla as an enemy combatant shortly after the U.S. citizen was arrested in May 2002 at Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport on suspicion of involvement in an al-Qaida plot.

This should be interesting….
