when he said he didn’t see the man he ran down in DC?  I’m not alone in wondering this. TMZ.com also raises the question.
From the AP report:

BOSTON (AP) — Conservative political commentator Robert Novak announced Monday he has been diagnosed with a brain tumor, less than a week after he struck a pedestrian with his Corvette and drove away.

Novak, 77, fell ill on Cape Cod this weekend while visiting his daughter and was rushed to Brigham and Women’s Hospital, where he said he was diagnosed Sunday with the tumor.

“I will be suspending my journalistic work for an indefinite but, God willing, not too lengthy period,” Novak, editor of the Evans-Novak Political Report, said in the statement released by his publisher, Eagle Publishing.

In his statement, Novak said he “didn’t see” the pedestrian he hit,nor did he hear anything either.

ABC 7 News’ Suzanne Kennedy: Can you tell us what happened this morning?

Robert Novak: I don’t really know.

ABC 7 News: Did you hit a pedestrian?

RN: That’s what they said, yes. I didn’t know I hit him.

ABC 7 News: And what happened? Did you even see anything?

RN: No, I didn’t see anything.

ABC 7 News: Was it a male or female pedestrian?

RN: I don’t know.

ABC 7 News: Where were you heading to?

RN: I was going to work.

ABC 7 News: About what time was this?

RN: It was about 10 o’clock.

ABC 7 News: So, you say you were driving down K Street and didn’t even see someone?

RN: That’s correct…..

ABC 7 News: Are you feeling OK today?

RN: I’m not right now.

Politico: Are you OK, sir?

RN: No… What do you mean?

Politico: Physically?

RN: Yes, I’m physically alright.

I say, he was lying there. He was not “physically ok”. but to say otherwise would have been damaging. As for the victim of Novak’s callousness, may he be well.

Redlasso halts blogger service amid lawsuit

NEW YORK (Reuters) - News video-sharing site Redlasso said on Friday it will suspend its video search and clipping service for bloggers as it defends against a copyright infringement lawsuit filed this week by NBC and Fox News Channel.

It will continue to run a business-targeted service that lets clients track and clip content for internal use and a service for radio stations that lets them upload their clips for online sharing.

“We are very disappointed in the actions of select networks,” said Redlasso Chief Executive Ken Hayward in a statement. “We believe we have always acted within the law and have been respectful of the networks’ rights.

So, now the News Nets say that the use of their video is infringng on their revenue. FUKC THAT.

So, now the news is copyrighted. or, is it that they feel threatened by teh blogs? They should embrace The New Broadside.

now that it appears that dear old “Grendel” is still in the USA, where is “Beowulf” to kill the monster?
Do you get the feeling Good Ol’ Karl never actually READ Beowulf? The movie, is from the perspective of Grendel.
Poor Poor Karl

oh, poor poor Karl.. So misunderstood. So, Karl, why not go to Congress and clear the misunderstandings. Maybe, you’ll be invited to the Prom.

PART ONE: GRENDEL
Grendel Attacks

One night, after a beer party,
the Danes settled in the hall
for sleep; they knew no sorrows.
The evil creature, grim and hungry,
grabbed thirty warriors
and went home laughing.

and why has this major turn of events being ignored by our News Media? Karl Rove skipping a date with Congress is one thing.
Source

“Rep. Chris Cannon (R-Utah) defended Rove, saying that he did have immunity from testifying and that the Democratic insistence on holding the hearing was a “partisan stunt.”

Cannon said Rove was out of the country on a “long-planned trip.”

But leaving the country? and just where did Mr. Rove go on his “long-planned trip”? why, according to NotionsCapitol he’s vacationing in the Crimea. and where is the Crimea? Why in the Ukraine. And, just what is so special about the Ukraine that it drew Mr. Rove to the shores of the Crimea River? Their lack of an Extradition Treaty with the United States. I would say that the Traitor Rove has admitted his Treasonous Acts by fleeing.

I say “Good Riddance to ya, ya black-hearted traitor”

Airport stall may return to spotlight :: CHICAGO SUN-TIMES :: Elections

It’s a bathroom door the GOP would rather keep closed.

Thousands of members of the international media will have to walk past it when they land at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport for the Republican National Convention in St. Paul at the end of the summer.

Larry Craig pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct after his arrest in this stall where gays meet for sex.

Many will feel obligated to stop and file a story.

For the party that bills itself as stronger on family values than the Democrats, it likely will prove an unwelcome distraction.

Could the irony be any more delicious? Will the male members of the delegations hold it till they got to the hotel?

So, what does Darth Cheney do?
Cheney wanted cuts in climate testimony

Vice President Dick Cheney’s office pushed for major deletions in congressional testimony on the public health consequences of climate change, fearing the presentation by a leading health official might make it harder to avoid regulating greenhouse gases, a former EPA officials maintains.

When six pages were cut from testimony on climate change and public health by the head of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention last October, the White House insisted the changes were made because of reservations raised by White House advisers about the accuracy of the science.

But Jason K. Burnett, until last month the senior adviser on climate change to Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Stephen Johnson, says that Cheney’s office was deeply involved in getting nearly half of the CDC’s original draft testimony removed.

I mean, really, how can The Billionaire’s keep on keeping on, if the evidence keeps mounting against them and is allowed to roam free?

<Concerned about Viacom’s knowing all and taking all? Arm yourself with information that could render that a moot point. The Center for Social Media has a document that can help you navigate the FairUse dispute regarding the use of copyright material
From the Introduction:

.This document is a code of best practices that helps creators, online providers, copyright holders, and others interested in the making of online video interpret the copyright doctrine of fair use. Fair use is the right to use copyrighted material without permission or payment under some circumstances.

This is a guide to current acceptable practices, drawing on the actual activities of creators, as discussed among other places in the study Recut, Reframe, Recycle: Quoting Copyrighted Material in User-Generated Video[1]and backed by the judgment of a national panel of experts. It also draws, by way of analogy, upon the professional judgment and experience of documentary filmmakers, whose own code of best practices has been recognized throughout the film and television businesses.

The document does not codify “Fair USe”

When you create a fanvid or mashup, to fall under Fair Use, the work must answer two (2) key questions:

* Did the unlicensed use “transform” the material taken from the copyrighted work by using it for a different purpose than that of the original, or did it just repeat the work for the same intent and value as the original?
* Was the material taken appropriate in kind and amount, considering the nature of the copyrighted work and of the use?
In the case of a fanvid, this can be tricky. how long a clip is Fair Use? I have videos that are acceptable for Youtube and some that are not I presume due to the length of the clips I used in order to get the point made. A prime example of Fair Use is the Make McCain Exicting Challenge over at The Colbert Report.

The document, available as in PDF,
lists several BEST PRACTICES for the use of copyrighted material/
