My Grandmother was the first white female born in Curtis, NE. The only Jewish family there until they left in the 1890’s, now, there are none. “Abandoning” a town is a lot different than abandoning a child. and yet, a new Nebraska law, allows for just that:

OMAHA, Neb. - Nebraska’s new “safe-haven” law allowing parents to abandon unwanted children at hospitals with no questions asked is unique in a significant way: It goes beyond babies and potentially permits the abandonment of anyone under 19.

While lawmakers may not have intended it, the month-old law raises the possibility that frustrated parents could drop off misbehaving teens or even severely disabled older children with impunity.

While no child has been left behind, this sets a dangerous precedent, as to what constitutes an “unruly child”. It’s so Christian. What’s next? The power for a parent to kill a “rebellious son”?
