When it pokes Middle Eastern Oil in the eye:

From the Jerusalem Post:

Gulf states may boycott the Nissan Motor Company as a result of an Israeli TV commercial that it depicts Saudis angered by a fuel-efficient car, a Saudi official has said.

The new campaign by Renault-Nissan caused an uproar in the Gulf when it showed a group of Saudi oil barons screaming and attacking the Renault-Nissan vehicle.

The Saudis are shown leaving a hotel and encountering the new, fuel-efficient vehicle. One man pounds his fists on the car and is then held back by his companions as he shouts at it, “Hawks should peck at you day and night.”

At the end of the commercial, the voice-over says, “It’s clear the oil companies won’t like you.”

awwwww… poor poor nebishes… A fuel efficient car is “racist”? Jesus… you are thin skinned.

now that it appears that dear old “Grendel” is still in the USA, where is “Beowulf” to kill the monster?
Do you get the feeling Good Ol’ Karl never actually READ Beowulf? The movie, is from the perspective of Grendel.
Poor Poor Karl

oh, poor poor Karl.. So misunderstood. So, Karl, why not go to Congress and clear the misunderstandings. Maybe, you’ll be invited to the Prom.

PART ONE: GRENDEL
Grendel Attacks

One night, after a beer party,
the Danes settled in the hall
for sleep; they knew no sorrows.
The evil creature, grim and hungry,
grabbed thirty warriors
and went home laughing.

and why has this major turn of events being ignored by our News Media? Karl Rove skipping a date with Congress is one thing.
Source

“Rep. Chris Cannon (R-Utah) defended Rove, saying that he did have immunity from testifying and that the Democratic insistence on holding the hearing was a “partisan stunt.”

Cannon said Rove was out of the country on a “long-planned trip.”

But leaving the country? and just where did Mr. Rove go on his “long-planned trip”? why, according to NotionsCapitol he’s vacationing in the Crimea. and where is the Crimea? Why in the Ukraine. And, just what is so special about the Ukraine that it drew Mr. Rove to the shores of the Crimea River? Their lack of an Extradition Treaty with the United States. I would say that the Traitor Rove has admitted his Treasonous Acts by fleeing.

I say “Good Riddance to ya, ya black-hearted traitor”

Dear Sen. McCain,

Your call for Sen. Obama to “cut Gen. Clark loose” is pure hypocrisy, when your campaign staff is littered with Lobbyists and Swift Boaters - the same people you denounced when they were trashing Sen. Kerry’s war record. The same people who trashed a disabled Iraq War Veteran when she ran for office. YOU have them on your staff. SHAME ON YOU. SHAME ON YOU FOR TURNING YOUR BACKS ON YOUR FELLOW VETS. FOR 30+ YEARS YOU HAVE TURNED YOUR BACK ON THEM.

Senator, you can’t have it both ways. Your fitness as our potential Commander-in-Chief is important, and your service record figures into that fitness. Your false outrage does not commend you.

You are not to be trusted.

If elected president, Senator John McCain would reserve the right to run his own warrantless wiretapping program against Americans, based on the theory that the president’s wartime powers trump federal criminal statutes and court oversight, according to a statement released by his campaign Monday.

Do we really want more of the same? Does he make you feel all warm and gooey inside. This is not the John McCain I met back in 2004 as when I was a Greeter for the City of NY during the Republican National Convention. I don’t recognize this man. I seriously don’t, and that is what worries me. Sen. McCain survived the Hanoi Hilton, but did he survive the Religious Right of his Party? is he suffering from the trauma of having his career and life thrashed by the very groups he now kowtows to? I fear so. and, the John McCain who stood up to bush in 2000 has been disappeared.d.

Yo, Ted:
I love your comics, but I must take exception to your latest and its call for violence against Jon Stewart. I posted the following to your blog, but I haven’t seen it yet:

How does the advocacy of violence against Stewart and Colbert aid the WGA? Both are WGA members and member of AFTRA - What would you have? 400 jobs lost or the two on the air to keep their crews together? Judging by your “call” to “holy struggle” you would prefer to have a few hundred people out on their asses adding to the misery of the strike. And, where is your vitriol for the AMPTP? THEY walked out of the negotiations after offering a mere $230 for streaming and downloads. Where is your “Jihad” against them?

Oh, yeah your paychecks just happened to be signed by…

AFTRA has a no strike clause. Comedy Central has an AFTRA Contract. both are in an untenable position. but yet, you call them out for being placed in such a position by the AMPTP. whose ass is the sweetest? Viacom, Disney or News Corps.? You are nothing more than a lackey of major media, to be confounded by traffic to take on those who NEED to be taken on - the AMPTP.

Indeed, In all of your scathing illustrations, I have yet to see you go after the Media Corporations, that by their intransigence, are the cause of this work stoppage. Not Stewart or Colbert. nor Jay Leno of Jimmy Kimmel. the AMPTP. You sir, are a base and vile coward. To chickenshit to, unlike Colbert and Stewart, to bite the hand that feeds. Tell me , Ted, what will you feel like should someone decide to emulate the Union goons and beat Mr. Stewart. Will it make you feel good, that your “Holy struggle” against these two has resulted in a good hide tanning? Will you stand up and defend the assailants as being good little jihadists? After all, they will be martyrs to your “holy cause”.

UPDATE: My comment, above has been approved and is posted over at Rall’s Blog “Search and Destroy”. However, he has chosen to not respond to my comments over at the Daily Show News blog. Now, does that make him smart or a coward? I still think a coward in that he, at this moment, as of this update, not responding.

Now, I am no conspiracy theory nut, but this is just odd”

Blackwater dropped riot gas on U.S. troops
The helicopter was hovering over a Baghdad checkpoint into the Green Zone, one typically crowded with cars, Iraqi civilians and U.S. military personnel.

Suddenly, on that May day in 2005, the copter dropped CS gas, a riot-control substance the U.S. military in Iraq can use only under the strictest conditions and with the approval of top military commanders. An armored vehicle on the ground also released the gas, temporarily blinding drivers, passers-by and at least 10 U.S. soldiers operating the checkpoint.

“This was decidedly uncool and very, very dangerous,” Army Capt. Kincy Clark, the senior officer at the scene, wrote later that day. “It’s not a good thing to cause soldiers who are standing guard against car bombs, snipers and suicide bombers to cover their faces, choke, cough and otherwise degrade our awareness.”

They gassed our own troops to “get through traffic” or were they just running an exercise for Nov. 2, 2008? They operate above and beyond the Law, which means, they were given what once was called Carte Blancheand answer to no one but Cheney….

At The Table, Rumour's Gin Mill 4:11 pm

A lot has been said regarding the return of The A Daily Show with John Stewart and the ColberT ReporT and alot of it is quite ugly. First, some basic lessons in the Language of the Strike:

Scab = A SCAB originally referred to the non-union, lower skilled individual who will cross the picket line because a slightly higher wage has been dangled before them. Think the SAG/AFTRA Contract strike and the DELL Dude. yeah, apparently SAG let him in anyway.

Strikebreaker = refers to a union member who crosses a picket line.

I support the WGA in their quest for equity, and yet, I know that both men crossed to save the jobs of nearly 400 non-writing employees. To hear some WGA members, these lost jobs are just part of doing business. Then there is the dilemma of their contracts as members of AFTRA, of which Comedy Central is a signatory. There is a “No Strike” clause in that Basic Cable contract. When the two walked off the set Nov. 5th, they breached their AFTRA contract, while abiding by the Strike rules of the WGA. Neither men are Steve Carrel, where they could call in a “fuck you” and shut everything down. Nor are they Jay Leno, who may or may not be violating WGA rules regarding “Struck Work” by wirting his own material - Jay is also a member of AFTRA.

For reasons known only to the negotiating teams, a request for an Interim Agreement with Comedy Central for the two shows to bring back their writers was rejected. REJECTED. THE WGA BLEW AN OPPORTUNITY TO PRESSURE the AMPTP, by having Comedy Central sign the Interim Agreement - you know DAMN well, that they would not have gone to the WGA unless VIACOM and Sumner Redstone gave them the “alles klarheit” to do so.

Now, back to their dilemma:
WGA? AFTRA? Strike? Work/save 400 jobs…
you tell me.
